Germany and Scotland Set for Epic Gold Medal Showdown!

Germany and Scotland Surge Into Gold Medal Final After Thrilling Semi-Final Victories
The stage is set for an epic gold medal showdown as Germany and Scotland triumphed in their respective semi-final matches, booking their spots in the highly anticipated final at the European Curling Championships.
Germany's Dominant Performance Shatters Norway's Hopes
Germany cruised into the final with a commanding 8-2 victory over Norway, a match that turned on a pivotal moment in the third end. Leading 2-1, Germany capitalized on a crucial mistake by Norway's skip Magnus Ramsfjell, who missed a draw for one, allowing the Germans to steal a stunning four points and surge to a 6-1 lead.
Germany maintained their dominance, entering the break with a commanding 7-2 advantage. Despite Norway's attempts to regroup, Ramsfjell's misfired double take-out in the eighth end gave Germany another steal, sealing the win and ensuring their place in the final.
German skip Marc Muskatewitz was elated after the game, stating, "We’re really looking forward to the final. Tomorrow, we’ll give it everything we’ve got on the ice."
Scotland Edges Out Switzerland in Extra-End Thriller
In the other semi-final, defending champions Scotland faced off against a resilient Swiss team in a match that went down to the wire. Scotland started strong, leading 4-2 at the break, but the game remained tight, with both teams exchanging blows. By the tenth end, Scotland seemed to have control with an 8-5 lead, but Switzerland’s fourth player Benoit Schwarz-van Berkel had other plans.
Schwarz-van Berkel delivered a clutch hit on a Scottish stone to score three points, tying the game at 8-8 and forcing an extra end. In the decisive extra end, Scotland's Bruce Mouat showed his mettle, executing a brilliant double take-out to score two and seal the victory 10-8.
A confident Mouat reflected on the win, saying, "It’s going to be a great final. Germany has been playing outstanding all season, so we’re ready for a real battle."
This marks the fifth gold medal final appearance for Mouat and his team, who have a perfect record in the four previous European finals they've contested, having won all four titles.
Gold Medal Clash Awaits
With their semi-final victories, Germany and Scotland now look ahead to a showdown for the European crown. Both teams have shown exceptional skill throughout the competition, and the final promises to be a thrilling encounter. For Scotland, it’s another opportunity to extend their dominance in European curling, while Germany will be eager to secure their first gold medal in recent years. All eyes will be on the ice as these two curling powerhouses battle for glory.
