Winnipeg's Reid Carruthers secured a 7-5 victory over Yannick Schwaller's Swiss team on Tuesday at the Kioti National, stealing a single point in the eighth end. Carruthers, with Kyle Doering stepping in at second for the retired Derek Samagalski, scored two crucial points in the seventh end and clinched the win after Schwaller’s tap attempt in the eighth end came up short.

Schwaller, who was recovering from recent knee surgery, sat out the game, with his brother Kim Schwaller filling in at second. Sven Michel moved up to third, while Benoit Schwarz-van Berkel remained at lead.

In other action, Winnipeg’s Mike McEwen defeated Switzerland’s Michael Brunner 7-2, and Scotland’s Ross Whyte triumphed over Switzerland’s Marco Hoesli by the same scoreline. In an all-Scottish matchup, Bruce Mouat beat James Craik 7-4.

Kaitlyn Lawes, the lone Canadian skip in Draw 2, suffered a 7-3 loss to Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg.

In additional matchups, Japan's Satsuki Fujisawa triumphed over Switzerland’s Xenia Schwaller 8-5, while South Korea’s Eun-Ji Gim bested Japan’s Sayaka Yoshimura 6-3.

Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni delivered an impressive performance, scoring three points in the sixth end to seal a 7-2 victory over Japan's Momoha Tabata.

The competition continues through Sunday at the Mary Brown’s Centre as part of the Grand Slam of Curling event, with two more draws scheduled for later in the day.
